We have an exciting opportunity for a bright, talented, and passionate IT Operations Engineer to join our managed services infrastructure team.
The managed services and operations division of D4t4 Solutions provides a world class infrastructure managed service for hosted, cloud and on-premises environments. Operating to ISO27001 and ITIL standards and guidelines.

About the job
The primary function of the role is to perform onsite Data Centre and local server room hardware moves, adds and changes. Triage and troubleshoot hardware related issues and produce and maintain hardware diagrams.
As a member of the Operations team there will also be a requirement to perform documented operational checks covering hardware, environmental, power and backup power as well as backup jobs, tape rotation and tape offsite storage.
The hours required of this position is 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday with flexibility to work extended hours and at the weekend as required.
The position is located at the D4t4 Solutions Sunbury-on-Thames head office with scheduled and unscheduled break/fix visits to Data Centres located in London Docklands and Acton. You must therefore be a car owner/driver and an allowance to cover business use and mileage will be provided.
Core Responsibilities
- Rack and stack computing hardware in accordance with standards.
- Catalogue hardware assets.
- Perform hardware moves, adds, and changes.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues onsite and remotely.
- Add and remove hardware components such as disk, memory, NIC’s etc.
- Install networking cabling.
- Monitor hardware devices such as PDU and UPS.
- Monitor server room environmental conditions.
- Liaise with Data Centre management team.
- Assist with facilities maintenance procedures and issues where required.
- Operate within ISO27001 and Data Centre security standards.
- Ensure secure disposal of retired IT assets.
- Manage and perform backup tape rotation and offsite storage.
- Monitor and triage alerts generated by automated infrastructure monitoring systems.
- Apply pre-defined standard IT service operations process and procedures as required to fulfill common technical requests raised by the client.
- Liaise with and coordinate third party technology support organisations when required.
- Liaise with the third-party Data Centre Operations team for scheduling Change and Data Centre access by D4t4 and third-party organisations.
- Assist Internal IT support team with IT support issues.
Skills and Requirements
- Proficient with Visio or similar computing diagram creation tool.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with VEEAM backup and VMware would be an advantage.
- Understanding and experience of working in secure environments under ISO27001 or equivalent.
- Understanding and experience of working under the ITIL framework.
- A rounded individual who is passionate about technology with a willingness to learn and work with unfamiliar technologies.
- Possess a sense of ownership and commitment to providing a high level of customer service.
- Adaptable, working as part of a supportive, well-established team but is also self-sufficient and organised, with meticulous attention to detail.
